Presidential Decree: We Must Prepare

In late May of 2010, President Obama made an effort to inform people on the importance of preparation:

President Obama has declared this week "National Hurricane Preparedness Week".

In his proclamation, the president emphasized the importance of being prepared to meet disaster head on in order to guarantee the survival of our communities and loved ones. According to the president "the hazards of hurricanes can destroy communities and devastate lives, and we must aggressively prepare our shores and
protect our families." In addition he goes on to emphasize that "...these precautions include maintaining an emergency supply kit..."

Please take these warnings to heart and prepare now.

Why Should I Prepare?

The first questions that enters most peoples minds when they come across the idea of Bug Out Bags, Evacuations Kits or prepping in general is: Why?

Why prepare? Why is it important to spend money on all of these supplies that you may never need? Because you care about your survival and the safety of your loved ones. In the aftermath of domestic disasters like Hurricane Katrina, the wildfires in California and 911 along with foreign disasters like the tsunami of 2004, the earthquake in Haiti and the nuclear meltdown in Japan the general public is becoming more wary of a disaster hitting close to home. If a disaster were to strike home and you were unable to acquire food or water, the power was out and there was no help in sight how long would you be able to survive? After Hurricane Katrina it is clear that a person cannot solely rely on the government for rescue. Especially in our current economic climate one cannot expect the manpower necessary for a full scale rescue to be available. That being said, a person should be ready to fend for themselves while they wait for help to arrive. In doing so a person not only increases their chances of survival but they also lessen the load on rescue personnel. In a way, preparing not only increases your chance of survival but it also increases the chance of survival for those around you that may be in need.

Qualifications

Why should you trust us to know what we are doing?

I'm Mike, founder, operator and currently the only member of Emergency and Disaster Survival Solutions. I have lived more than half my life in Virginia and therefore have experienced a few hurricanes, tornadoes and blizzards in my time here and understand how much of a devastating effect even the smallest of storms can cause. I have spent years and countless hours researching survival techniques, equipment and methods of planning and consider myself more than knowledgeable on the subject. In addition I recently resigned from my position with the Police and have personal insight into what it takes to get a response together. It has taken me all this time to put myself in a situation where I finally feel prepared and safe. I would like to save you the time. I know how busy life can get and how simple it is to push something like this to the wayside. I am here to give you the best of both worlds. You do not have to trouble yourself with the stresses of preparation, nor do you have to spend any time researching products or shopping for them. Put me to the task and I will take care of all of it for you.
